Lyon

Culinary Capital of France

Lyon is a historical city with a vibrant cultural scene as the birthplace of cinema, the silk capital of the globe, and the second biggest Renaissance city following Venice.
Venture out of the city with trips to Musee des traditions bugistes (in Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey), Annecy (La Vieille Ville, Lake Annecy, &more) and Domaine Le Fagolet-Gite La Girardiere (in Vaux-en-Beaujolais). Dedicate the 18th (Sat) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's lots more to do: stroll around Parc de la Tete d'Or, appreciate the extensive heritage of Fourviere Hill, examine the collection at Hôtel-Dieu Museum Musée de l'Hôtel-Dieu, and don't miss a visit to Traboules du Vieux Lyon.

If you are flying in from Nigeria, the closest major aiports are Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, Saint-Étienne-Bouthéon Airport, Grenoble-Isère Airport and Chambéry-Savoie Airport. In April, plan for daily highs up to 20°C, and evening lows to 8°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
