Ishigaki

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Step off the beaten path and head to Stand-Up Paddleboarding and Kondoi Beach. Take a break from the city and head to Kayaking & Canoeing and Cape Hirakubozaki. There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Yonehara Beach, take in panoramic vistas at Tamatorizaki Observatory, and stroll around Banna Park.

Fly from Kanazawa to Ishigaki in 7.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and flight. Traveling from Kanazawa in July, plan for somewhat warmer nights in Ishigaki, with lows around 82°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Mon) so you can ride a ferry to Iriomote-jima.
