Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
Shop till you drop at Dotonbori and Sennichimae Doguyasuji Shopping Street. Get in touch with nature at Mount Koyasan and Tennoji Zoo. Venture out of the city with trips to KidZania Koshien (in Nishinomiya), Fujiitera City Lifelong Learning Center (AICEL Shura Hall) (in Fujiidera) and Koya-cho (Kongobu-ji Temple, Koyasan Daimon, & more). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Museum of Oriental Ceramics, get in on the family fun at Universal Studios Japan, hunt for treasures at Kuromon Ichiba Market, and soak in some Japanese tradition at Spa World.
