Miyakojima

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Yonaha Maehama Beach and Aragusuku Beach. Visit Sunayama Beach and Toguchi no Hama for some beach relaxation. There's still lots to do: see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, step off the mainland to explore Irabu-jima Island, snap pictures at Irabu Ohashi, and add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour.

Sydney, Australia to Miyakojima is an approximately 15-hour flight. The time zone difference when traveling from Sydney to Miyakojima is minus 1 hour. When traveling from Sydney in September, plan for somewhat warmer days and much warmer nights in Miyakojima: temperatures range from 36°C by day to 30°C at night. Taketomicho Iriomote-Jima stands as the second largest island in Okinawa.
Start off your visit on the 10th (Thu): enjoy the sand and surf at Hoshisuna Beach, then take in the dramatic scenery at Pinaisara Falls, and then get interesting insight from Tours. Keep things going the next day: find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, then step off the mainland to explore Iriomote Island, then kick back and relax at Ida no Hama Beach, and finally take in the dramatic scenery at Mizuochi Falls.

Traveling by ferry from Miyakojima to Iriomote-jima takes 4 hours. In September in Iriomote-jima, expect temperatures between 37°C during the day and 30°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Fri) to allow time to ride a ferry to Ishigaki.

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Escape the urban bustle at Cape Hirakubozaki and Kondoi Beach. Explore hidden gems such as Yonehara Beach and Scuba & Snorkeling. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from Ishigaki in September, with highs in Hiroshima at 32°C and lows at 24°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Thu) so you can take a train to Kyoto.
