Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Asakusa Shrine and Tokyo National Museum. Visit Kanda Myojin and Nezu Shrine for their historical value. There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Sensō-ji, go for a walk through Hozomon, explore the world behind art at Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, and contemplate the long history of Sengaku-ji Temple.

Amsterdam, Holland to Tokyo is an approximately 15.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 8 hours traveling from Amsterdam to Tokyo. Traveling from Amsterdam in January, expect nights in Tokyo to be about the same, around 1°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Mon) so you can take a train to Kanazawa.

Take a train from Tokyo to Kanazawa in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. While traveling from Tokyo, expect little chillier days and about the same nights in Kanazawa, ranging from highs of 7°C to lows of 0°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Thu) early enough to go by car to Ise.

Traveling by car from Kanazawa to Ise takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of bus and train. Expect a bit warmer evenings in Ise when traveling from Kanazawa in January, with lows around 7°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Sat) early enough to drive to Nachikatsura-cho.
