Barranquilla

— 24 nights

Golden Gate of Colombia

An industrial port city on Colombia's Caribbean coast, Barranquilla represents the fourth-most populous city in the country.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepcion and Playas de Santa Veronica. Visit El Prado and Plaza San Nicolas for their historical value. Get out of town with these interesting Barranquilla side-trips: Sombrero Vueltiao (in Juan de Acosta), Puerto Colombia (Castillo de Salgar, Parque Nacional Natural El Tuparro, &more) and Galapa (Megua Parque Biotematico & El Solar de Mao). Spend the 8th (Fri) exploring nature at Parque Isla Salamanca. Plan for a day of cool, family-friendly fun on the 18th (Mon) at Caribe Aqualand. There's still lots to do: learn about all things military at Sala del carnaval Elsa Caridi, pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia Espiritu Santo, don't miss a visit to Plaza de la Intendencia Fluvial, and browse the different shops at Centro Comercial Portal del Prado.

For more things to do, other places to visit, traveler tips, and other tourist information, you can read our Barranquilla holiday builder site.
