Sydney, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Sydney to Tokyo. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Sydney in May: high temperatures in Tokyo hover around 28°C and lows are around 19°C. Traveling by car from Fujikawaguchiko-machi to Kanazawa takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and train; or do a combination of bus and flight. Traveling from Fujikawaguchiko-machi in May, you will find days in Kanazawa are somewhat warmer (26°C), and nights are a bit cooler (15°C). Cap off your sightseeing on the 21st (Thu) early enough to travel to Hiroshima.

The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
Venture out of the city with trips to Kunimi no Mori Park (in Shiso), Okayama Korakuen Garden (in Okayama) and Hattoji Furusatomura (in Bizen). There's still lots to do: explore the historical opulence of Himeji Castle, don't miss a visit to Shoshazan Engyoji, take in nature's colorful creations at Koko-en Garden, and take in the pleasant sights at Takeda Teramachi Street.
