Portoferraio, Elba Island

Portoferraio is a town and comune in the province of Livorno, on the edge of the eponymous harbour of the island of Elba. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Monte Capanne and Spiaggia delle Ghiaie. Visit Spiaggia di Fetovaia and Spiaggia di Capo Bianco for some beach relaxation. Change things up with a short trip to Spiaggia di Cavoli in Seccheto (about 30 minutes away). The adventure continues: kick back and relax at Spiaggia Della Biodola and tour the pleasant surroundings at Spiaggia Di Sansone.

Innsbruck, Austria to Portoferraio is an approximately 8.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of flight and ferry; or do a combination of train and ferry. Traveling from Innsbruck in June, expect a bit warmer with lows of 20°C in Portoferraio. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sat) so you can travel to Alghero.

Built surrounding a 16th-century fortified port, Alghero remains one of Sardinia's most visited sites, rich in cultural and historical heritage.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Centro Storico Bosa and Spiaggia Li Junchi - Badesi. Visit Costa Paradiso and Spiaggia Delle Bombarde for some beach relaxation. Change things up with these side-trips from Alghero: Spiaggia La Marinedda (in Isola Rossa) and Spiaggia di Is Arutas (in Cabras).
