Jeju
The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO.
Gwaneumsa Temple and Seongeup Folk Village will appeal to history buffs. Get some cultural insight at Hallim Park and O’sulloc Tea Museum. When in Jeju, make a side trip to see Seongsan Ilchulbong in Seogwipo, approximately 1h 20 min away. There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Hamdeok Beach, step off the mainland to explore Udo, explore the fascinating underground world of Manjanggul Cave, and admire the natural beauty at Kim Kyung-Sook Sunflower Farm.

Melbourne, Australia to Jeju is an approximately 16-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone difference when traveling from Melbourne to Jeju is minus 1 hour. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel to Seoul.

July in Seoul sees daily highs of 34°C and lows of 27°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Fri) so you can travel to Hiroshima.

Fly from Seoul to Hiroshima in 6 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of train and ferry. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in July, and nighttime lows around 28°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 26th (Sun) early enough to catch the train to Himeji.

Start off your visit on the 27th (Mon): don't miss a visit to Shoshazan Engyoji, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Nagoyama Reien Busharito, explore the historical opulence of Himeji Castle, then admire the natural beauty at Koko-en Garden, and finally don't miss a visit to Otemae Street. On the 28th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: hike along Mt Shosha hiking and then take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Takamikura.

Traveling by train from Hiroshima to Himeji takes an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and train. In July, daily temperatures in Himeji can reach 33°C, while at night they dip to 29°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Tue) to allow enough time to take a train to Kyoto.

Getting from Himeji to Kyoto by train takes about an hour. Other options: drive; or take a bus. When traveling from Himeji in July, plan for somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Kyoto: temperatures range from 37°C by day to 28°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Sat) early enough to travel to Tokyo.
