Potomac is a census-designated place (CDP) in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, named for the nearby Potomac River. Venture out of the city with trips to Alexandria (Old Town, George Washington Masonic National Memorial, &more), Arlington (The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery, &more) and Gettysburg (Gettysburg Museum of History, Horseback Riding Tours, &more). On the 16th (Mon), spend a day delving into the history of Antietam National Battlefield. Spend the 17th (Tue) exploring nature at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. There's much more to do: Head underground at Luray Caverns, examine the collection at Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, meet the residents at National Aquarium, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Billy Goat Trail.

To see photos, traveler tips, other places to visit, and other tourist information, refer to the Potomac tour planning website.

In September in Potomac, expect temperatures between 78°F during the day and 58°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
