Often described as the city of laptops and lederhosen, Munich is an international center of business, engineering, research, and medicine that still maintains a rich cultural heritage and age-old traditions.

Museum-lovers will get to explore Pinakothek der Moderne and BMW Headquarters. Step off the beaten path and head to Frauenkirche and Olympic Tower. Get out of town with these interesting Munich side-trips: Landshut (Trausnitz Castle with Chamber of Art and Curiosities & Zisterzienserinnen-Abtei Seligenthal), Augsburg (Church of St. Ulrich and St. Afra & Augsburger Puppentheatermuseum) and Erdinger Brewery (in Erding). Spend the 30th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's lots more to do: explore the world behind art at Staatliche Museum Agyptischer Kunst, examine the collection at FC Bayern Museum, fly down the slopes at Wallbergbahn, and walk around Theresienwiese.
