Start off your visit on the 27th (Fri): engage your brain at Museum of Aeronautical Sciences, take in panoramic vistas at Narita International Airport Terminal 1, walk around Naritasan Park, then steep yourself in history at Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple, then make a trip to Three-storied Pagoda, and finally steep yourself in history at Naritasan Omote Sando.

Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia to Narita is an approximately 9-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. Traveling from Kota Kinabalu to Narita, you'll lose 1 hour due to the time zone difference. The resort town of Yamanouchi-machi has plenty of contrasting, but complementary things going for it.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Sat): hit the slopes at Shiga Kogen, identify plant and animal life at Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park, then witness a stunning natural landmark at Jigokudani Funsen, then head outdoors with Ryuoo Ski Park, and finally indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at some of the top local onsens. On the next day, hit the slopes at Ichinose Diamond Ski Resort, head outdoors with Okushiga Kogen Ski Area, then get outside with Shigakogen Plateau, and finally get outside with Suginohara.

Getting from Narita to Yamanouchi-machi by car takes about 4 hours. Other options: do a combination of train and taxi; or do a combination of train and bus. When traveling from Narita in December, plan for a bit cooler days in Yamanouchi-machi, with highs around 7°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 0°C. You will have some time to spend on the 30th (Mon) before leaving for Shirakawa-mura.

An old castle town largely unspoiled during World War II, Kanazawa features well-preserved architecture spread across a range of districts.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum and Tojimbo Cliff. Take a break from Kanazawa with a short trip to Chirihama Nagisa Driveway in Hakui, about 42 minutes away. A city lying on Tokyo Bay, Urayasu used to stand separate from the giant metropolis next door, but now, even though it belongs to another prefecture, it seems part of the capital.
Attractions like Tokyo Disneyland and Kamogawa Sea World make great kid-friendly stops. Venture out of the city with trips to Country Farm Tokyo German Village (in Sodegaura), Ubara Risokyo (in Katsuura) and Yomogi Fudodaki Waterfall (in Kamogawa). There's much more to do: make an unforgettable trip to Tokyo DisneySea, stop by Urayasu Sports Park Indoor And Swimming Pool, walk around Matsudo East Matsudo Yuinohana Park, and take in the pleasant sights at Ishuigami no Nanohana Batake.
