Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
You'll explore and learn at Pola Museum of Art and Edo-Tokyo Museum. Head to Minato Mirai 21 and Ginzafor plenty of shopping. There's lots more to do: admire the masterpieces at Tokyo National Museum, get great views at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, wander the streets of Takeshita Street, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sensō-ji.

Adelaide, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 15.5-hour flight. Traveling from Adelaide in March, you will find days in Tokyo are much colder (17°C), and nights are slightly colder (7°C). Wrap up your sightseeing on the 21st (Sat) to allow time to take a train to Kanazawa.

An old castle town largely unspoiled during World War II, Kanazawa features well-preserved architecture spread across a range of districts.
Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum and Shirakawago Gassho Zukuri Minkaen will appeal to museum buffs. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Chirihama Nagisa Driveway and Daihonzan Eiheiji Temple. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kanazawa: Shirakawa-mura (The Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go Gassho Style Houses & Ogimachi Castle Old Site Observatory) and Nanto (Ainokura Gassho Community & Gokayama). The adventure continues: take in nature's colorful creations at Kenrokuen Garden and steep yourself in history at Higashichaya Old Town.

Take a train from Tokyo to Kanazawa in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In March, Kanazawa is slightly colder than Tokyo - with highs of 13°C and lows of 3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Tue) to allow enough time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Tofuku-ji Temple and Kyo no Takumi. For shopping fun, head to Dotonbori or Nishiki Market. Explore Kyoto's surroundings by going to Osaka Castle (in Osaka) and Todai-ji Temple (in Nara). The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ryoanji Temple, make a trip to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle.

Traveling by train from Kanazawa to Kyoto takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 16°C in March, and nighttime lows around 5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) to allow time to take a train to Hiroshima.

Grapple with history and appreciate modernity in Hiroshima, a city known around the world for its tragic past and inspiring rebirth.
Daishoin Temple and Itsukushima Shrine will appeal to history buffs. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims and JMSDF Kure Museum. Venture out of the city with trips to Hatsukaichi (Itsukushima Gekijyo, Miyajima, & more) and Yamato Museum (in Kure). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and steep yourself in history at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

Traveling by train from Kyoto to Hiroshima takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In March, daytime highs in Hiroshima are 16°C, while nighttime lows are 6°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 31st (Tue) early enough to travel to Ishigaki.

Take a break from the city and head to Kondoi Beach and Kayaking & Canoeing. Discover out-of-the-way places like Cape Hirakubozaki and Yurateiku Market. Do a combination of train and flight from Hiroshima to Ishigaki in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. While traveling from Hiroshima, expect a bit warmer days and much hotter nights in Ishigaki, ranging from highs of 26°C to lows of 21°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Fri) to allow time to travel to Miyakojima.

Step off the beaten path and head to Toguchi no Hama and Yonaha Maehama Beach. Escape the urban bustle at Sunayama Beach and Scuba & Snorkeling. And it doesn't end there: identify plant and animal life at Yabiji, take in the views from Ikema Ohashi Bridge, step off the mainland to explore Shimojiiima Island, and stroll through Aragusuku Beach.

You can fly from Ishigaki to Miyakojima in 2 hours. In April, plan for daily highs up to 29°C, and evening lows to 23°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 8th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
