Get a sense of the local culture at Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 and Odaiba District. Tokyo National Museum and Pola Museum of Art will appeal to museum buffs. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
For shopping fun, head to Dotombori District or Kyo no Takumi. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Chion-in Temple and Tofuku-ji Temple. Step out of Kyoto to go to Nara and see Todai-ji Temple, which is approximately 1 hour away. There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle, and browse the eclectic array of goods at Nishiki Market Shopping District.

Drive from Kanazawa to Kyoto in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In March, daily temperatures in Kyoto can reach 16°C, while at night they dip to 5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) early enough to take a train to Hiroshima.

Take a train from Kyoto to Hiroshima in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In March, daytime highs in Hiroshima are 16°C, while nighttime lows are 6°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Tue) so you can travel to Ishigaki.
