Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Rome is known for historic sites, nightlife, and museums. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: delve into the distant past at Pantheon, admire the local landmark of Trevi Fountain, steep yourself in history at Roman Forum, and visit Trastevere.

Sydney, Australia to Rome is an approximately 24- hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone changes from Australian Eastern Standard Time to Central European Standard Time, which is usually a -9 hour difference. Often referred to as the gem of the Amalfi Coast, Positano remains one of southern Italy's most sought-after vacation locales, thanks to its hillside location and picturesque, pastel buildings.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Positano: Santuario Santa Maria del Bando (in Atrani), Ravello (Belvedere Principessa di Piemonte, Cappella Sant'Angelo all'Ospedale, &more) and Duomo di Sant'Andrea (in Amalfi). There's still lots to do: Head underground at Grotte di Suppraiano, steep yourself in history at Santa Maria de Olearia, sample the fine beverages at Liquorificio Mansi Carlo, and admire the local landmark of Fontana sant'Andrea.

You can drive from Rome to Positano in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train, subway, and bus; or take a bus. Traveling from Rome in February, plan for a bit warmer nights in Positano, with lows around 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Florence.

In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
Explore Milan's surroundings by going to Villa del Balbianello (in Tremezzina), Museo Egizio (in Turin) and Santuario Della Madonna delle Grazie di San Martino (in Griante). There's still lots to do: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Duomo di Milano, admire the masterpieces at Pinacoteca di Brera, explore the different monuments and memorials at Monumental Cemetery, and don't miss a visit to Piazza del Duomo.

Take a train from Florence to Milan in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or fly. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from Florence in February, with highs in Milan at 10°C and lows at 1°C.
