A gateway to the island, Hakodate has gained a reputation for its waterfront attractions, its proximity to some of the island's most popular natural sites, and its seafood.
Venture out of the city with trips to Nanae-cho (Shirotai Farm, Onuma Park Walking Path, &more) and Kijihiki Highland Panoramic Lookout (in Hokuto). Next up on the itinerary: enjoy breathtaking views from Goryokaku Tower, explore by horseback at Dosanko Farm Hakodate, make a trip to Hachimanzaka, and wander the streets of Motomachi.

The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually an 8 hour difference. Perhaps the island's best-known hot spring resort, Noboribetsu has a long history of tourism.
On the 14th (Wed), get in on the family fun at Noboribetsu Date Historic Village, then snap pictures at Hakucho Bridge, and then make a trip to Cape Chikyu. Here are some ideas for day two: get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe, admire nature's wide array of creatures at Noboribetsu Bear Park, then explore the striking landscape at Jigokudani, and finally relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas.

You can drive from Hakodate to Noboribetsu in 3 hours. Another option is to take a train. In July, plan for daily highs up to 26°C, and evening lows to 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel to Rebun-cho.
