A beautiful and romantic city fit for any itinerary, Paris brims with historic associations and remains vastly influential in the realms of culture, art, fashion, food and design.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Musee Rodin and Musee Marmottan Monet. When in Paris, make a side trip to see Chateau de Chantilly in Chantilly, approximately 56 minutes away. The adventure continues: see the interesting displays at Musee des Arts Forains, admire the masterpieces at Musee du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, take a stroll through Trocadero, and get to know the fascinating history of Montmartre.

The 2013 European "Capital of Culture," Marseille is the largest port city on the breezy Mediterranean coast and the second largest city in France.
Appreciate the collections at Carrieres des Lumieres and Chateau de Grignan. Get a sense of the local culture at Vallon des Auffes and Amphitheatre (les Arenes). Get out of town with these interesting Marseille side-trips: Musee du Parfum Fragonard (in Grasse), Arles (Musee Departemental Arles Antique & Eglise St-Trophime) and Le Suquet (in Cannes). There's still lots to do: explore the ancient world of Roman Theatre of Orange, steep yourself in history at Site Archeologique de Glanum, don't miss a visit to Maison de l'Echevin de Cabre, and explore the world behind art at Hotel de Caumont - Art Centre.

You can fly from Paris to Marseille in 3.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or drive. When traveling from Paris in March, plan for somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Marseille: temperatures range from 19°C by day to 7°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Mon) so you can travel to Milan.

In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
Appreciate the collections at Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile and Villa Necchi Campiglio. Get some cultural insight at Duomo di Milano and Chiesa di San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore. Explore Milan's surroundings by going to Turin (Armeria Reale & Museo Pietro Micca), Cathedral of Cremona (in Cremona) and Bergamo (Piazza Vecchia, La Citta Alta, & more). Traveling by flight from Marseille to Milan takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. In March, daily temperatures in Milan can reach 16°C, while at night they dip to 5°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 21st (Sat) early enough to catch the train to Florence.
