A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Get in touch with nature at Scuba & Snorkeling and Safaris. Historic Village Herberton and Underart Gallery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Explore Cairns' surroundings by going to Daintree Discovery Centre (in Cow Bay), Palm Cove (Village Gallery & Palm Cove Beach) and Hartley's Crocodile Adventures (in Wangetti). Spend the 3rd (Thu) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Next up on the itinerary: trek along Esplanade Boardwalk, head outdoors with Horses in Port, explore the galleries of Michael Seebeck Gallery, and make a trip to Regency Jewellers Pty Ltd.

The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Do your shopping at Provenance Arts and Paul Arnold Gallery. You'll explore and learn at Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and RFDS Darwin Tourist Facility. Change things up with a short trip to Territory Wildlife Park in Berry Springs (about 42 minutes away). Spend the 9th (Wed) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Plan for a day of cool, family-friendly fun on the 13th (Sun) at Darwin Waterfront. There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Mindil Beach, see what you can catch with a fishing tour, view the masterpieces at Nomad Art, and examine the collection at Defence of Darwin Experience.
