San Francisco, USA to Sendai is an approximately 15.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of train and flight. You'll lose 17 hours traveling from San Francisco to Sendai due to the time zone difference. Drive from Sendai to Aizuwakamatsu in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. Traveling from Sendai in April, plan for a bit cooler nights in Aizuwakamatsu, with lows around 45°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 25th (Sat) so you can go by car to Akita.

Getting from Aizuwakamatsu to Akita by car takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of taxi, flight, and bus; or take a train. April in Akita sees daily highs of 56°F and lows of 42°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Tue) so you can travel to Hirosaki.

Tucked away among the foothills of the Hakkoda mountain range, Towada tourism revolves around its eponymous lake and the surrounding national park.
Hachinohe City Museum and Hachinohe City Historic Site Nejo Square are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visiting Ashura no Nagare and Hakufu no Taki will get you outdoors. Change things up with these side-trips from Towada: Hakkoda Gourda Line (in Aomori), Hachinohe (Nejyo Castle & Kokuzobosatsudo) and Hotokenuma (in Misawa). When traveling from Towada in May, plan for a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Morioka: temperatures range from 71°F by day to 57°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
