Get outdoors at Seoraksan National Park and Biryong Falls. Get out of town with these interesting Sokcho side-trips: Yangyang-gun (Naksansa Temple & Osaek Jujeongol Valley). Next up on the itinerary: hike along Ulsanbawi Rock, tour the pleasant surroundings at Cheonjin Beach, enjoy the sand and surf at Bongpo Beach, and take in the natural beauty of Cheoksan Foot Spa Park.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.
Kick off your visit on the 30th (Sun): steep yourself in history at Seokguram, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Bulguksa Temple, and then identify plant and animal life at Gyeongju Bird Park. Here are some ideas for day two: see the interesting displays at Gyeongju National Museum, contemplate the waterfront views at Anapji Pond, and then contemplate the long history of Cheomseongdae Observatory.

Drive from Sokcho to Gyeongju in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and train; or take a bus. In May, daily temperatures in Gyeongju can reach 60°F, while at night they dip to 60°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Busan.

The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Get a sense of the local culture at Haedong Yonggung Temple and Beomeosa Temple. Take a break from the city and head to Haeundae Beach and Gwangalli Beach. Take a break from Busan with a short trip to Yangsan Tower in Yangsan, about 48 minutes away. You can drive from Gyeongju to Busan in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. When traveling from Gyeongju in May, plan for a bit warmer days in Busan, with highs around 75°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 57°F.
