A relatively new city, Miyoshi encompasses six surrounding rural districts into one.
Venture out of the city with trips to Kotohira-cho (Kotohira-gu Shrine & JR Kotohira Station). There's still lots to do: take in the views from Iya Kazura Bridge, indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at some of the top local onsens, admire the verdant scenery at Manniquin Pis, and don't miss a visit to Ochiai Village.

Tokyo to Miyoshi is an approximately 4.5-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. In October, daily temperatures in Miyoshi can reach 70°F, while at night they dip to 58°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 18th (Fri) early enough to catch the train to Kochi.
