— 21 nights

Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Head to Via Condotti and Antiquariato Europeofor plenty of shopping. Get a sense of the local culture at Colosseum and Vatican Museums. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Rome: Montefalco (Montioni Frantoio e Cantina & Cantina Colle Ciocco), Orvieto (Duomo di Orvieto & Decugnano dei Barbi) and Villa Adriana (in Tivoli). There's still lots to do: admire the landmark architecture of Pantheon, take a stroll through Trastevere, steep yourself in history at Palatine Hill, and ponder the design of Trevi Fountain.

If you are flying in from Germany, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. Expect a daytime high around 37°C in July, and nighttime lows around 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
