Famous for being the birthplace of the Beatles, Liverpool is a vibrant city with an outstanding cultural heritage.
Venture out of the city with trips to Chester Zoo (in Chester), Code to Exit (in Altrincham) and Bolton Steam Museum (in Bolton). Situated on the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss, York has witnessed an abundance of major political events throughout its two millennia of existence.
Step out of York with an excursion to National Centre for Birds of Prey in Helmsley--about 50 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: admire the landmark architecture of York Minster, see the interesting displays at York's Chocolate Story, take an in-depth tour of National Railway Museum, and wander the streets of York Shambles.

Cockermouth is an ancient market town and civil parish in the Borough of Allerdale in Cumbria, England, so named because it is at the confluence of the River Cocker as it flows into the River Derwent. Get out of town with these interesting Cockermouth side-trips: Wast Water (in Wasdale Head), Boat Tours & Water Sports (in Glenridding) and Aira Force Waterfall (in Penrith). Windermere is the largest natural lake in England. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Windermere: Lake Grasmere (in Grasmere), Bowness-on-Windermere (The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction & Boat Tours & Water Sports) and Sizergh Castle (in Kendal). There's much more to do: enjoy some diversion at Michael Coates Clay Shooting, get great views at Orrest Head, get interesting insight from Tours, and step into the grandiose world of Wray Castle.
