The largest city on the Mississippi River, Memphis bills itself as both the "Birthplace of Rock" and "Home of the Blues." With such a rich musical heritage, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Elvis Presley chose to live in Memphis during his later years.
When in Memphis, make a side trip to see Horseshoe Tunica in Tunica, approximately Tunica away. There's much more to do: examine the collection at Graceland, learn more about the world around you at Sharpe Planetarium, contemplate the long history of The Peabody Ducks, and deepen your understanding at Stax Museum of American Soul Music.
