Melbourne, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 13.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Melbourne to Tokyo. Traveling from Melbourne in March, expect nights in Tokyo to be slightly colder, around 7°C, while days are much colder, around 17°C. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Tofuku-ji Temple and Toji. Head to Dotonbori and Nishiki Market Shopping Districtfor some retail therapy. Step out of Kyoto to go to Osaka and see Osaka Castle, which is approximately 1h 10 min away. There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, contemplate the long history of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, and make a trip to Kiyomizu-dera Temple.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Kyoto takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In March in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 16°C during the day and 5°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Thu) so you can drive to Nachikatsura-cho.

Miyakojima
A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Step out of the city life by going to Sunayama Beach and Toguchi no Hama. We've included these beaches for you: Aragusuku Beach and Yonaha Maehama Beach. There's still lots to do: head off the coast to Shimojiiima Island, take in the views from Irabu Ohashi, explore the activities along Toriike Pond, and enjoy the sea views from Higashi Hennazaki Lighthouse.

Onna-son

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
Nakijin Castle Ruins and Katsuren Castle Ruins are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get outdoors at Scuba & Snorkeling and Daisekirinzan. Explore Onna-son's surroundings by going to Okinawa Peace Memorial Park (in Itoman), Okichan Theater (in Motobu-cho) and Sefa-Utaki (in Nanjo). You can do a combination of flight and bus from Miyakojima to Onna-son in 3.5 hours. Traveling from Miyakojima in April, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Onna-son, with lows of 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
