You can do a combination of flight and bus from Ishigaki to Ibusuki in 6.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and train. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Ishigaki in January: high temperatures in Ibusuki hover around 12°C and lows are around 8°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Wed) to allow enough time to travel to Ise.

Get a sense of the local culture at Toji and Eikando Zenrinji Temple. Tofuku-ji Temple and Kinkaku-ji will appeal to history buffs. Venture out of the city with trips to Osaka (Osaka Castle & Dotonbori) and Todai-ji Temple (in Nara).
