Get out of town with these interesting Osaka side-trips: Nara (Nara Park, Kasuga Grand Shrine, & more), Koya-cho (Koyasan Danjo Garan, Kongobu-ji Temple, & more) and Kobe (Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution & Mudoji Temple). Take a train from Himeji to Kyoto in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Himeji in September, expect a bit cooler with lows of 68°F in Kyoto. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Fri) to allow enough time to take a train to Kanazawa.
