Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Kick off your visit on the 25th (Wed): make a trip to Shibuya Crossing, admire the landmark architecture of Tokyo Tower, then get a sense of history and politics at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings, then make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. On the 26th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: enjoy breathtaking views from Tokyo Skytree, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Senso-ji Temple, then get a sense of history and politics at Imperial Palace, and finally have some family-friendly fun at Owl cafe Akiba Fukurou.

Sydney, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. The time zone difference moving from Australian Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales) to Japan Standard Time is minus 1 hour. In March, Tokyo is cooler than Sydney - with highs of 17°C and lows of 7°C. You'll have a few hours on the 27th (Fri) to wrap things up before traveling to Fujiyoshida.

Traveling from Tokyo in March, you will find days in Fujiyoshida are a bit cooler (9°C), and nights are about the same (7°C). Cap off your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Osaka.

Traveling by car from Fujiyoshida to Osaka takes 5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of bus and flight. Expect somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Fujiyoshida in March: highs in Osaka hover around 16°C, while lows dip to 5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Wed) to allow time to travel to Hiroshima.

Getting from Osaka to Hiroshima by train takes about 2 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of flight and train. In April, daily temperatures in Hiroshima can reach 22°C, while at night they dip to 13°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 5th (Sun) so you can catch the train to Nagoya.
