Take a break from Kyoto with a short trip to Byodoin in Uji, about 44 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, don't miss a visit to Gion, get a taste of the local shopping with Nishiki Market Shopping District, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sanjusangendo Temple.

Take a train from Nagoya to Kyoto in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. While traveling from Nagoya, expect somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Kyoto, ranging from highs of 22°C to lows of 11°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 10th (Fri) so you can catch the train to Osaka.
