Kids will appreciate attractions like Canal Grande and St. Mark's Square. Take a break from Venice with a short trip to Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, about 54 minutes away. Akureyri, Iceland to Venice is an approximately 9.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of car and ferry. The time zone difference when traveling from Akureyri to Venice is 1 hour. Prepare for much warmer weather when traveling from Akureyri in July: high temperatures in Venice hover around 36°C and lows are around 22°C. Attractions like Pompeii Archaeological Park and Marina Di Vietri make great kid-friendly stops. Get out of town with these interesting Salerno side-trips: Spiaggia Lannio (in Cetara), Spiaggia di castiglione (in Castiglione) and Oasi Valle della Caccia (in Senerchia). Traveling by train from Rome to Salerno takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Rome in July, you will find days in Salerno are slightly colder (34°C), and nights are a bit warmer (29°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Wed) to allow enough time to ride a ferry to Positano.

Positano

Often referred to as the gem of the Amalfi Coast, Positano remains one of southern Italy's most sought-after vacation locales, thanks to its hillside location and picturesque, pastel buildings.
Bring the kids along to Fornillo and Marina di Praia Beach. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Positano: Lido Capo di Conca (in Conca dei Marini), Fishing Charters & Tours (in Sorrento) and Valle delle Ferriere (in Amalfi). There's still lots to do: take in the pleasant sights at Sentiero degli dei (Path of the Gods), take in panoramic vistas at Torre di Grado, add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour, and stop by I love Positano home design.

You can ride a ferry from Salerno to Positano in 1.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of train and taxi; or drive. Plan for a bit cooler nights when traveling from Salerno in July since evenings lows in Positano dip to 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Sun) so you can drive to Assisi.
