Mestia is a highland townlet in northwest Georgia, at an elevation of 1500m in the Caucasus Mountains.General informationMestia is located in the Svaneti region of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti province, some 128km northeast of the regional capital of Zugdidi. Get some cultural insight at Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography and St. Nicholas Church. Take a break from Mestia with a short trip to Love Tower in Bogreshi, about 46 minutes away. The adventure continues: take in the awesome beauty at Mountain Ushba, get outside with Koruldi Lakes, stroll through Khatsvali Ski Resort, and hit the slopes at Ski Resort Tetnuldi.

Tbilisi to Mestia is an approximately 3-hour combination of taxi and flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Start off your visit on the 2nd (Thu): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino, then learn about winemaking at Pheasant's Tears Winery, then steep yourself in history at Signagi City Walls, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at St. George’s Church. On the bank of the Mtkvari River and at the foot of Trialeti mountain range, Tbilisi's location has given the city strategic significance since it was founded in the 5th century.
Visit Narikala Fortress and Uplistsiche Cave Town for their historical value. Tsminda Sameba Cathedral and Old Town (Altstadt) Tbilisi are good opportunities to explore the local culture.
