Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Civita di Bagnoregio and Duomo di Orvieto are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Cascata delle Marmore and Giardino dei Tarocchi. There's lots more to do: indulge your taste buds at Food & Drink, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore, appreciate the history behind Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II, and pause for some serene contemplation at Arcibasilica di San Giovanni in Laterano.
