As the political and cultural capital of China, Beijing stands at the heart of Chinese history, buzzing with the energy of its high population density and centuries of importance.
Step off the beaten path and head to Jingshan Park (Jingshan Gongyuan) and National Museum Of China. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Chinese Imperial Post and Panjiayuan Antique Market. And it doesn't end there: see Mutianyu Great Wall, contemplate the long history of Bell and Drum Towers, ponder the world of politics at Temple of Heaven, and get great views at Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang).
