Thanks to the city's position on the Pacific coast, vacations in Iquique appeal to beachgoers, paragliders, bodyboarders, nature lovers, photographers, and fans of picture-perfect sunsets.
Take a break from the city and head to Salitrera Santa Laura and Playa El Morro. We've included these beaches for you: Playa Cavancha and Playa Brava. Major archeological sites and a renowned museum remain the big draws in San Pedro de Atacama tourism, appealing to visitors interested in learning more about South America's pre-Columbian cultures.
Visit Pukara de Quitor and Cementerio de Toconao for their historical value. Step off the beaten path and head to Atacama Desert and Nature & Wildlife Tours. When in San Pedro de Atacama, make a side trip to see Salar de Atacama in Antofagasta, approximately Antofagasta away. You can take a bus from Iquique to San Pedro de Atacama in 6.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or fly. In March, plan for daily highs up to 28°C, and evening lows to 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to La Serena.

Packed with old stone churches in a unique urban landscape, La Serena represents one of Chile's oldest settlements, equally popular with architecture buffs and beachgoers.
Start off your visit on the 11th (Wed): stroll around Enchanted Valley (Valle del Encanto), stroll through Valle del Elqui, and then take in nature's colorful creations at Jardin del Corazon. Keep things going the next day: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia de Guayacan, then step off the mainland to explore Isla Damas, and then look for gifts at Mary Dubo Mercado Verde.

Traveling by flight from San Pedro de Atacama to La Serena takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. While traveling from San Pedro de Atacama, expect little chillier days and somewhat warmer nights in La Serena, ranging from highs of 23°C to lows of 15°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Thu) early enough to travel to Hanga Roa.

Hanga Roa, Easter Island

The main town and capital of Chile's Easter Island, Hanga Roa serves as a base for most visitors to the island, with all explorations of Easter Island and its famous moai monoliths beginning here.
We've included these beaches for you: Ovahe and Playa Pea. Orongo and Ahu Tahai will appeal to history buffs. There's still lots to do: get impressive views of Rano Kau, explore the ancient world of Ahu Akahanga, steep yourself in history at Papa Vaka, and explore the different monuments and memorials at Cementerio de Isla de Pascua.

Getting from La Serena to Hanga Roa by flight takes about 21 hours. The time zone difference moving from Chile Standard Time (CLT) to Easter Island Standard Time (EAST) is minus 2 hours. In March, Hanga Roa is somewhat warmer than La Serena - with highs of 31°C and lows of 23°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Tue) early enough to travel to Puerto Varas.

Step out of Puerto Varas to go to Puerto Montt and see Mirador Manuel Montt, which is approximately 32 minutes away.
