Tucked away among the foothills of the Hakkoda mountain range, Towada tourism revolves around its eponymous lake and the surrounding national park.
Attractions like Onsen Resorts and Hotokenuma make great kid-friendly stops. Get some cultural insight at Towada Art Center and Shotokukan. Get out of town with these interesting Towada side-trips: Noheji Beach (in Noheji-machi) and Hakkodasan Snow March Distress Museum (in Aomori). There's much more to do: explore the activities along Oirase Mountain Stream, snap pictures at Deai-bashi Bridge, pause for some photo ops at Todo Seihyo Monument, and take in the dramatic scenery at Choshi Otaki Waterfall.

Tokyo to Towada is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also take a train; or drive. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from Tokyo in July, with highs in Towada at 26°C and lows at 23°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Sun) so you can go by car to Hachinohe.
