With 1,677 national heritage sites, Maastricht is a town rich in history.
Boekhandel Dominicanen and Kasteel Hoensbroek will appeal to history buffs. Take a break from the city and head to Maastricht Underground and Golfcourse Het Rijk van Margraten. Go for a jaunt from Maastricht to Heerlen to see Brunssummerheide about 34 minutes away. The capital of Dutch industrial design, Eindhoven is known as the "City of Light." This is thanks to the technology company, Phillips, which has its base here and hosts many light projects in buildings around the city.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at World Heritage Kinderdijk and Regte Heide & Riels Laag. Get in touch with nature at Nationaal Park De Maasduinen and Natuur-reservaat Ooijpolder-De Vlietberg Nijmegen. Get out of town with these interesting Eindhoven side-trips: Park Merwestein (in Dordrecht), Efteling (in Kaatsheuvel) and Baardwijkse Overlaat (in Drunen). The adventure continues: explore the different monuments and memorials at Mierlo war cemetary.
