Surrounded by shark-infested waters and connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus of land, Port Arthur ranks among Australia's top historical sites and heritage areas.
Visit Coal Mines Historic Site and Port Arthur Historic Site for their historical value. Escape the urban bustle at Tasmanian Devil Unzoo and Lime Bay State Reserve. Go for a jaunt from Port Arthur to Eaglehawk Neck to see Waterfall Bay about 32 minutes away. There's still lots to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of Cape Raoul and examine the collection at Federation Artisan Chocolate - Port Arthur.
