With a rich cultural scene and plenty of developed beaches, Montevideo vacations appeal to a growing number of visitors from around the world.
Palacio Taranco and Catedral de Montevideo are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visit Pittamiglio"s Castle and Cementerio Central for their historical value. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Montevideo: El Aguila (in Atlantida), Playa Punta Colorada (in Piriapolis) and Playa Solanas (in Punta Ballena). There's still lots to do: make a trip to Plaza Independencia, ponder the world of politics at Estevez Palace, take a stroll through Ciudad Vieja, and take a leisurely stroll along Rambla de Montevideo.

Sao Paulo, Brazil to Montevideo is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. In August, Montevideo is slightly colder than Sao Paulo - with highs of 20°C and lows of 9°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Wed) early enough to ride a ferry to Buenos Aires.
