The allure of the beaches and the town's historical center draw visitors to Lagos, a coastal destination in the Barlavento region of the Algarve.
Kick off your visit on the 8th (Wed): steep yourself in history at Fortaleza de Sagres, don't miss a visit to Cape Saint Vincent, then stroll through Praia do Camilo, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Ponta Da Piedale, and finally pause for some photo ops at Statue of Gil Eanes. Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Start off your visit on the 11th (Sat): indulge your senses at some of the top wineries in the area, then take in the views from Ponte de Dom Luis I, and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral).

Traveling by combination of bus and flight from Lagoa to Porto takes 5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. Traveling from Lagoa in April, Porto is little chillier at night with lows of 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Sat) early enough to travel to Lisbon.
