You'll find plenty of places to visit near Tokyo: Tokyo DisneySea (in Maihama), Hakone-machi (Lake Ashi (Ashinoko) & The Hakone Open-Air Museum) and Lake Kawaguchi (in Fujikawaguchiko-machi). Catania, Italy to Tokyo is an approximately 18.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. The time zone difference moving from Central European Time (CET) to Japan Standard Time (JST) is 8 hours. In July, plan for daily highs up to 36°C, and evening lows to 27°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 21st (Tue) so you can catch the train to Kanazawa.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kanazawa in 2.5 hours. Other options are to fly; or drive. In July, daily temperatures in Kanazawa can reach 34°C, while at night they dip to 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Thu) to allow enough time to take a train to Kyoto.
