Tours, France to Tokyo is an approximately 18-hour combination of train and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 8 hours traveling from Tours to Tokyo. Popular historic sites such as Daihonzan Eiheiji Temple and Ogimachi Castle Old Site Observatory are in your itinerary. You'll explore and learn at Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum and Shirakawago Gassho Zukuri Minkaen. Venture out of the city with trips to Shirakawa-mura (The Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go Gassho Style Houses & Wada House), Chirihama Nagisa Driveway (in Hakui) and Nanto (Ainokura Gassho Community, Gokayama, & more). You can take a train from Tokyo to Kanazawa in 2.5 hours. Other options are to fly; or drive. In July, plan for daily highs up to 34°C, and evening lows to 26°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Fri) so you can catch the train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Nijo Castle and Toji will appeal to history buffs. Get some cultural insight at Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Sanjusangendo Temple. Change things up with a short trip to Dotonbori in Osaka (about 1h 10 min away).
