As the country's biggest port and one of the busiest in all of Europe, Hamburg has a well-deserved reputation as Germany's Gateway to the World.
Lubeck Altstadt (Lubeck Oldtown) and Red Gallery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Head to Elbphilharmonie and Rotter Glas - Crystal since 1870for plenty of shopping. Change things up with a short trip to Travemunde in Lubeck (about 1h 20 min away). There's still lots to do: explore the activities along Port of Hamburg, get to know the fascinating history of Speicherstadt, examine the collection at Miniatur Wunderland, and steep yourself in history at Alter Elbtunnel.
