You'll discover tucked-away gems like The David Collection and The Open Air Museum. Get a sense of the local culture at Stevns Klint and Cold War Museum Stevnsfort. Get out of town with these interesting Copenhagen side-trips: M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark (in Helsingoer) and Frederiksborg Slotskirke (in Hillerod). Denmark's third-largest city proudly displays its link to the famous writer with museums, sculptures, and public art installations dedicated to Andersen and his stories.
The Funen Village and Museum Langelandsfort are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step off the beaten path and head to Odense ZOO and Vikingemuseet Ladby. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Odense: Trelleborg Viking Fortress (in Slagelse), Elsographical Museum of Drejet (in Faaborg) and Naturama (in Svendborg).
