The site of the continent's first Spanish colony, Cartagena retains much of its colonial flavor thanks to a World Heritage-listed old town, encircled by old walls and protected by imposing fortresses.
Do some cultural sightseeing at San Felipe de Barajas Castle and Scuba & Snorkeling. Visit Walled City of Cartagena and Sanctuary of Saint Peter Claver for their historical value. Step out of Cartagena to go to Isla Baru and see Playa Blanca, which is approximately 1h 05 min away. There's more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Convent of Santa Cruz de la Popa and get engrossed in the history at Museo del Oro Zenu.
