Veľký Meder is a town in the Dunajská Streda District, Trnava Region in southwestern Slovakia.EtymologyThe name is derived from the name of the ancient Hungarian Megyer tribe.GeographyVeľký Meder lies in the eastern part of Great Rye Island, on the western border of historical Komárom County, around 20 km southeast of Dunajská Streda and 35 km northwest of Komárno. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Velky Meder: Orechova Poton (Malkia Park- Big Cats Rescue & Malkia Park) and Samorin (Mestsky park Pomle & Park Kormoran). Plan for a day of cool, family-friendly fun on the 19th (Thu) at Thermal Corvinus Velky Meder. Skalica is the largest town in Skalica District in western Slovakia in the Záhorie region. Take a break from Skalica with a short trip to Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows in Sastin-Straze, about 40 minutes away.
