Visit Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple and Tokyo National Museum for their historical value. Museum-lovers will appreciate Ghibli Museum Mitaka and Samurai Museum. Venture out of the city with trips to Fujiko F Fujio Museum (in Kawasaki), Iwatsuki Daishi Mirokumitsu-ji Temple (in Iwatsuki) and Hikawa Shrine (in Omiya). And it doesn't end there: take in the spiritual surroundings of Asakusa Shrine, contemplate the long history of Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu, admire the masterpieces at Hakone Museum of Art, and get engrossed in the history at Tokyo National Museum The Heiseikan.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Step off the beaten path and head to Tenryuji Temple and Kodai-ji Temple. Get a sense of the local culture at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Toji. Get out of town with these interesting Kyoto side-trips: Ise (Aramatsurinomiya, Sengukan, & more), Hikone Castle (in Hikone) and Ishiyamadera Temple (in Otsu). And it doesn't end there: take in the spiritual surroundings of Jojakkoji Temple, steep yourself in history at Ninna-ji Temple, and make a trip to Eikando Zenrinji Temple.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kyoto in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. Expect a daytime high around 19°C in November, and nighttime lows around 10°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Fri) to allow time to take a train to Osaka.

Tenryuji Temple and Koyasan Okunoin will appeal to history buffs. Get a sense of the local culture at Nanzen-ji Temple and Ninna-ji Temple. Venture out of the city with trips to Horyu-ji Temple (in Ikaruga-cho), Kashihara Jingu (in Kashihara) and Koya-cho (Koyasan Danjo Garan & Kongobu-ji Temple). The adventure continues: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Jojakkoji Temple and contemplate the long history of Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine.
