A small trading town in the 17th century, Kaohsiung now stands as a sprawling metropolis, its harbor representing the largest on the island.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Cihou Fort and Formosa Boulevard Station. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Taroko Park and Caishan Natural Park. Step out of Kaohsiung with an excursion to Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area in Donggang--about 50 minutes away. Singapore, Singapore to Kaohsiung is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Singapore in December: high temperatures in Kaohsiung hover around 29°C and lows are around 20°C. The oldest city in the country, Tainan stood as the island's capital during feudal times.
Let the collections at National Museum of Taiwan History and Chimei Museum capture your imagination. Escape the urban bustle at Guanziling Hot Spring and Shuangcun Binhai Recreation Area. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Tainan: Aogu Wetlands and Forest Park (in Dongshi) and Beimen Crystal Church (in Yizhu). Take a train from Kaohsiung to Tainan in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive. In December, daytime highs in Tainan are 29°C, while nighttime lows are 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Sat) so you can drive to Hengchun.

Hengchun

Located on the southern tip of the eponymous peninsula, Hengchun serves as the entry point to Kenting National Park, often attracting more travelers than locals with its tropical beach resorts and bustling night markets.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Kenting National Park and Fu'an Temple. Get some cultural insight at National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium and Fangliao Railway Art Village. There's lots more to do: discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, steep yourself in history at Hengchun Shih Pai Park (Houtungshan Historical Park), explore the ancient world of Hengchun Old Town, and make a trip to Hongchaikeng.

Traveling by car from Tainan to Hengchun takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus. In December in Hengchun, expect temperatures between 29°C during the day and 20°C at night. On the 25th (Tue), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Taipei.

Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
Your list of things to see and do now includes Lungshan Temple, Beitou Thermal Valley(Hell Valley), Taipei Eats, and other attractions. Ximending and Hsing Tian Kong are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Take a break from the city and head to Meihua Lake and Neipi Beach. You can do a combination of bus and train from Hengchun to Taipei in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and flight. Traveling from Hengchun in December, you will find days in Taipei are little chillier (23°C), and nights are about the same (18°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Fri) so you can take a train to Taichung.

Known its good weather, Taichung boasts an interesting set of cultural attractions, including many temples showing the development of religious architectural styles in the area and forming focal points for most tours of Taichung.

You can take a train from Taipei to Taichung in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In December, plan for daily highs up to 24°C, and evening lows to 15°C. On the 31st (Mon), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Yuchi.
