Dongola

Dongola, also spelled Dunqulah, and formerly known as Al 'Urdi, is the capital of the state of Northern in Sudan, on the banks of the Nile, and a former Latin Catholic bishopric (14th century). Change things up with a short trip to Kerma's Archeological Site in Kerma (about 1h 20 min away). There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to Third Cataract of the Nile and get to know the fascinating history of Old Dongola.
