Osaka

— 3 nights
Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
Do your shopping at Dotombori District and Shimada Shoten. Venture out of the city with trips to Kyoto (Toji, Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, &more). There's still lots to do: get in on the family fun at Universal Studios Japan and take a stroll through Minami (Namba).

To find reviews, other places to visit, maps, and other tourist information, you can read our Osaka travel route planner.

If you are flying in from Singapore, the closest major aiports are Osaka International Airport, Kansai International Airport and Chubu Centrair International Airport. In June, daily temperatures in Osaka can reach 32°C, while at night they dip to 22°C. On the 24th (Mon), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Kobe.

Kobe

— 16 nights
Walkable, small, and aesthetically charming, Kobe has served as Japan's first and premier international trading outpost since opening to trade with China in the mid-19th century.
For shopping fun, head to Nankinmachi (Kobe Chinatown) or Naifs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kobe: Wakayama (Momijidani Garden, Wakayama Castle, &more), Naruto (Onaruto Bridge, Otsuka Museum of Art, &more) and Himeji (Hamanomiya Tenmangu Shrine, Himeji Yasukuni Shrine, &more). There's much more to do: wander the streets of Kobe Harborland, take in panoramic vistas at Kobe City Hall (Observation Deck), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tokkosan Kaburaiji Temple, and admire the sheer force of Nunobiki Falls (Nunobiki-No-Taki).

To find photos, more things to do, reviews, and more tourist information, refer to the Kobe online trip itinerary maker.

Kobe is just a short distance from Osaka. When traveling from Osaka in June, plan for little chillier days in Kobe, with highs around 28°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 24°C. On the 10th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
