A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Visit Toguchi no Hama and Sunayama Beach for some beach relaxation. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Scuba & Snorkeling and Yabiji. There's much more to do: stroll through Aragusuku Beach, look for gifts at Furusato, take in the views from Kurima Bridge, and kick back and relax at Yonaha Maehama Beach.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Miyakojima is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone changes from Malaysia Time (MYT) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Expect slightly colder weather when traveling from Kuala Lumpur in June: highs in Miyakojima hover around 36°C, while lows dip to 30°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Mon) so you can catch the ferry to Iriomote-jima.

You can do a combination of flight and train from Ishigaki to Kyoto in 6 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Ishigaki in June: high temperatures in Kyoto hover around 32°C and lows are around 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Mon) early enough to drive to Takayama.

On the 2nd (Tue), get to know the fascinating history of Higashiyama Walking Course, contemplate the long history of Takayama Jinya, then stop by Onoya Brewery, then enjoy breathtaking views from Tenshukakau Observatory, and finally enjoy breathtaking views from Ogimachi Castle Old Site Observatory. Keep things going the next day: contemplate the long history of Kanda house, then get engrossed in the history at Shirakawago Gassho Zukuri Minkaen, then steep yourself in history at Wada House, and finally soak in some Japanese tradition at some of the top local onsens.

You can drive from Kyoto to Takayama in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In July, daytime highs in Takayama are 35°C, while nighttime lows are 27°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Wed) early enough to go by car to Hakone-machi.

Onna-son

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
