Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Tokyo is known for historic sites, parks, and shopping. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine, explore the world behind art at Tokyo National Museum, get a sense of history and politics at Imperial Palace, and make an unforgettable trip to Tokyo Disneyland.

Auckland, New Zealand to Tokyo is an approximately 15- hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of bus, shuttle, and flight. Traveling from Auckland to Tokyo, you'll gain 3 hours due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Auckland in October, you will find days in Tokyo are somewhat warmer (26°C), and nights are about the same (18°C). Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Thu) early enough to catch the train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Change things up with a short trip to Jishu Shrine in Otsu (about 56 minutes away). There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, make a trip to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and wander the streets of Arashiyama.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Kyoto takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and bus; or drive. October in Kyoto sees daily highs of 27°C and lows of 18°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Mon) so you can catch the train to Hiroshima.

Start off your visit on the 6th (Fri): don't miss a visit to Kuromon Market and then find something for the whole family at Universal Studios Japan. On the next day, take a stroll through Dotombori, meet the residents at Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, then step into the grandiose world of Osaka Castle, and finally enjoy breathtaking views from Kuchu Teien Observatory.

You can take a train from Hiroshima to Osaka in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train, flight, and bus. In November in Osaka, expect temperatures between 20°C during the day and 10°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 8th (Sun) to allow time for travel back home.
